CSI's Data Quality Assurance Methodology ensures the consistent delivery of accurate, reliable and trusted information, which, in turn, enhances the overall decision-making process throughout the enterprise.
CSI integrates data quality assurance into procedures for acquiring, maintaining and archiving data rather than treating it as a separate activity. CSI refers to this proven process and technique as Verification, Validation and Certification or V V&C. V V&C results are reviewed and evaluated to determine how data quality management practices can be continually improved.
Verification
checks the data's format, type, conformity of values to range constraints, consistency with other related data, and conformity to specifications contained in metadata describing the database design and data quality requirements.
Validation
checks the data accuracy in comparison to real world objects described by the data (i.e., a standard assumed to be correct).
Certification
provides an official authoritative recording of the fact that data V&V has been performed, and provides a measure of confidence for Users deciding whether the data is appropriate for their analysis. It also provides a discipline that can help reduce the risk that the data will be used inappropriately.
